2011. The Year of the Fox

When Pink Coyote says that she kept referring to 2011 as The Year of the Fox since she knew last Fall that change was coming, I get smitten by her always-magical, healing words. Because I don't quite know why I came up with the thought of the Fox as Animal Totem and of Fox Medicine early this month... "without knowing what that meant, and I still don't... exactly." I even signed a few entries in some blogs I follow as Red Foxy Lady, but I changed my mind mostly because of the sexual connotations.

We women know that the Fox's "giant fluffy" tail will comfort us while "change rolls in and over" us, who will have taken refuge and cozied down in our den with notepads, watercolors and mud.

Magpie Symbolism

The magpie's obsession with shiny things is symbolic of our tendency to chase after false ideas or perceptions. When the magpie comes into our lives it is often a reminder that we may have to re-evaluate our priorities. Are we chasing after unsuitable desires? Are we serving a false ideal? Are we putting materialism ahead of matters of the soul?

The magpie's speech is symbolic of communication and creative expression. When we hear the magpie speak it is a message to us that we might need to listen to what is being spoken to us - listen with more attention. Me siento como si me hubiera barrido una tromba de agua ( es la expresión que me viene, recurrente, a la cabeza apenas empiezo a describir cómo me siento ).

En algún momento estos meses atrás, perdí por completo la noción del libre albedrío.

En la ducha, bajo el chorro de agua tibia y entre pompas de jabón, es el único lugar donde me encuentro a gusto en las últimas horas...

¿acaso la autoevolución trate sobre volver al origen de uno mismo...?

SOULFOOTING. LIVELY, FLUFFY, COZY GUIDANCE.

Soulfooting, featuring Fox, is about the intuitive process which leads to one's sacred truth. An opening occurs when paws find the path that has been waiting for them. CHANGE. FOXY MAMA

I knew last Fall that change was coming. I kept referring to 2011 as Year of the Fox without knowing exactly what that meant, and I still don't...exactly. I sit in the ultimate unknown, wondering what aspects of my life will really shapeshift and turn corners, knowing that Fox's giant fluffy tail will comfort me through the moments as change rolls in and over me. All I can do is take refuge and cozy down in my den with my kits when necessary. In this painting, Fox is graceful change. She begins her process opening up to new patterns she may not have considered before. Fox changes herself to bring about a desired situation, not unlike shapeshifting. She may use camouflage or invisibility to burrow under and blend in if necessary, in order to find out how she fits in. She listens carefully, creates comfort all around her, and tunes into her instincts. Her keen perception serves her well when the time comes to make a decision. Fox cozies up and protects herself before she trots off into her new adventure, expecting the unexpected, and willing to be guided. This little vixen is ready for whatever comes next!

STORYTELLER. PINK FOX

Fox is so prominent for me right now. I feel she represents what is growing in my world, in our world. She brings enchanting stories of possibility with her, of the healing energy that makes giant creative leaps possible. In our tribe, Fox is a symbol of family, and the unity and commitment we share as a group. This little one carries a message of what we can experience when we gather together in sacred trust and kinship. I sense that she is off into the woods to have a secret tryst with her comrades, to share stories and learn about herself and the world by communing with her friends.
